WESTWOOD PLATEAU COQUITLAM NEIGHBOURHOOD GUIDE

Westwood Plateau is known for its upscale family homes. Geographically, it sits on a Ridge at the southern end of Eagle Mountain overlooking central portions of Coquitlam. The upper area was once occupied by Westwood Motorsport Racing Circuit for which this neighbourhood was named. However in the 90s, the motorcar racing circuit was closed when the area started to take on residential development. In fact, in the 90s, this area became famous for a luxury home builder’s showcase called “Street of Dreams” and many upscale homes with the latest building innovations were put on display and then sold. This area a relatively quiet with thin finger-like greenbelts along natural creeks throughout the neighbourhood. A high “promontory” or mini-peak at the north-centre of the neighbourhood has been preserved as Ridge Park.

Many from Vancouver were attracted early to Coquitlam by the large luxury homes in this neighbourhood. Now that Coquitlam city centre has urbanized, this area has gained in popularity because of its proximity to all the amenities in town centre. You will find good selection of older or renovated detached homes with a smaller mix of townhomes and attached condos. With the hilly terrain, the area is quite private but the community is friendly.

The neighbourhood highlights luxury living, privacy, views of coquitlam, and a renowned 12-hole golf course. There is easy access to town centre along Plateau Blvd leading downhill to Johnson St., Coquitlam Centre, as well as Highway Access to Burnaby and Vancouver. With the upcoming planned development in downtown Coquitlam, this neighbourhood will continue to remain a highly desirable location.
