Renfrew is often confused with Renfrew-Collingwood which is an unofficial combination of Renfrew Heights and Collingwood. Renfrew is considered part of Hastings-Sunrise. Renfrew is a middle-class mix of multicultural families including Italians, Cantonese, Vietnamese, other European. The neighbourhood attracted lots of independent restaurants and cafe’s along Hastings and East Village attracts shoppers from around the city.
With arteries of Hastings street, 1st Ave, Boundary, Nainaimo, and Renfrew | Rupert skytrain stations near Broadway to the south, there are a lot of transit options. Much of the growth of this up and coming neighbourhood is from the great restaurants and transit. Being one of the older communities, there is history and charm in this area considered one of the more affordable in Vancouver. There are big streets lined with trees, and growing areas of townhomes and condos.
Hastings Park, Rupert Park, PNE, Thunderbird Community offers plenty to take advantage of when living in this neighbourhood – there are gyms, swimming, fitness centres, dance classes, raquetball, maker labs, STEM learning labs for kids – plenty of strong community offerings. There are variety of parks around for golf, jogging, skateboarding, and walking.
