S. W. Marine Drive neighbourhood is sandwiched between Kerrisdale and Southlands. It is primarily a residential area and takes on a mix of both Kerrisdale and Southlands. There are gated mansions along its S.W. Marine border. Further north, towards its 49th Ave border, there are more regular sized lots and fewer gates.

The homes in this neighbourhood is prestigious and elegant. There are many equestrian families in Southlands and S.W. Marine and sometimes you can see signs of riders trotting along the river trails. There are small private stables as well as larger ones like Windsor stables offering boarding for horse owners.

Recreation in the area is great for those who love horses, walking or jogging along the tree-lined streets, road and mountain bikers as well as quirky Vancouver favorites like recumbent bikes, inline rollerblading, or roller skiing.
