Riverwood is a quiet residential subarea in the north portion of Port Coquitlam. Burke Mountain and Riverwood are very popular growing neighbourhoods that provide both extensive shopping, amenities, and services as well as being close to nature. Riverwood has large selection of townhomes, houses and a smaller selection of condos. Education is a priority for families in this area and there are a good selection of public as well as private school options.
Riverwood is the home to famous Traboulay Trails which is a 25 Km loop through Fraser River/Pitt River estuary, marshland, slough as well as farmland, and urban areas. It was named after Mayor Len Traboulay to celebrate Canada’s 100th birthday. This area around pitt river and Deboville Slough is very unique area for wildlife and plant species. The water from Pitt river is fed by the mighty Fraser River and ocassionally brackish (salt water mixed with fresh water). You find all sorts of precious wildlife for nature lovers including favorites (Great blue heron, osprey, bald eagle, harrison hawks, bears, salmon, owls, etc).
This is area has such incredible mountain backdrop views! And the views are visible from many of the houses in the area. If you want to be overwhelmed by how grand nature is, Traboulay trails is steps away from many homes in the area. Here you experience river and mountain views that are so majestic, you get a sense of what the BC wilderness was like for early explorers. After exploring, the many newer modern townhomes and more recently many houses built leading up to Burke Mountain offers comfort to nature lovers.

This area is known for both the convenience of Fremont Village shopping area and the fabulous hiking areas including the famous Traboulay Trail. The trail actually encircles much of Port Coquitlam but the main branch travels along Pitt River, DeBoville Slough where there is boating moorage. The trail is accessible to jogging, running, hiking, biking, boating. The wildlife is precious with great blue heron, osprey, bald eagles, Harrison Hawks, Blackbirds, owls, woodpeckers, Stellar Jays (related to Blue jays).
