Killarney like Fraserview was one of the last neighbourhoods to be developed. It is a quiet neighbourhood with residential cul-de-sacs and small shopping plazas. The riverfront to the south offers an area of recent rapid development for condos.

Historically German, Irish, and other European immigrants lived in this area. Now it is more diverse with Korean, Carribean, Fillipino, and Chinese Canadians adding to the community. Most of the homes are on larger lots but it is also home to co-ops and multi-family developments.

The neighbourhood and surrounding area has some of the largest green space in Vancouver. There is plenty of leisure activities offered at Killarney community centre and Fraserview Golf course. This area is very central for quick travel to Burnaby, Downtown, Richmond, or the airport.
